THE HEMCELL®+ INNOVATION (PATENTED AND PATENTS WORLDWIDE PENDING) RELATES TO:
WHAT IS HEMCELL?
Patent research notes: A melt is prepared of a first polymeric matrix and a second polymeric matrix, the first polymeric matrix comprising specific leaf material, the second polymeric matrix material being a (common) thermoplastic (bio)polymer. The invention must be seen in the surprising observation that this leaf material can have thermoplastic properties after a specific method of preparation and as a result thereof, can form a matrix material in a polymeric melt, together with (another) thermoplastic component. Such a new matrix results surprisingly in advantageous polymeric material that has increased form stability, improved flexibility and material strength and is biodegradable under normal natural conditions. Matrix materials are thermoplastic and can form a polymeric structure, whereas non-matrix materials are not thermoplastic and cannot form a polymeric structure. Non-matrix materials are therefore not the replacement of the matrix material by an alternative matrix, but are just replacing said polymeric matrix with inert material (e.g. fillers) resulting in totally different thermoplastic properties without the advantageous polymeric material results to which the invention relates. The invention relates to the method for the preparation of a polymer blend comprising a novel component, to a method for the preparation of the said new component, to a method for the preparation of an article comprising the said polymer or polymer blend, as well as to an article comprising the said polymer or polymer blend.
